There were initial fears that it would cause a subsequent tsunami, but warnings were cancelled across the Indian Ocean. The 2012 Indian Ocean earthquake comes just over a year after the devastating Japan earthquake and tsunami, and measures as the 11th strongest earthquake since 1900.
